Rebellion? Oh, Pul-eeze!

Here's a story about an Australian artist who has received an art foundation grant of $10,000 to fly 10,000 paper planes in Victoria's State Library.

The artist refers to this as "a playful act of rebellion".

Accepting a handout of $10,000 is an act of rebellion?

Oh, pul-eeze.

Best comment on the story: Matt F (a socially-concerned, environmentally-responsible guy): "Is it recycled paper?"

Next best: Toshi of Albury (enthusiastic capitalist): "I'll do it for $9,000."

Worst comment: Tommy of Melbourne (presumed layabout collecting the dole, but I could be wrong): "Did you even read this article? 'While there is simplicity in this artwork, there are logistical, organisation and creative challenges that will further my development as an artist,.

$10,000 worth, apparently.

Tommy of Melbourne then goes for the Armageddon scenario: "I would love to see what all you faceless commenter's would say if you lived in a society that didn't fund artistic development."

Oh, the humanity!

And that's the way the artistic Ball bounces.
