Sunday Psalm: 2 -- "If You Make A Run For God, You Won't Regret It!"

Christ the Saviour (Pantokrator), a 6th-centur...                                       Image via Wikipedia
Psalm 2

   Why the big noise, nations? Why the mean plots, peoples?
   Earth-leaders push for position,
   Demagogues and delegates meet for summit talks,
   The God-deniers, the Messiah-defiers:
   "Let's get free of God!
   Cast loose from Messiah!"
   Heaven-throned God breaks out laughing.
   At first he's amused at their presumption;
   Then he gets good and angry.
   Furiously, he shuts them up:
   "Don't you know there's a King in Zion? A coronation banquet
   Is spread for him on the holy summit."

   Let me tell you what God said next.
   He said, "You're my son,
   And today is your birthday.
   What do you want? Name it:
   Nations as a present? continents as a prize?
   You can command them all to dance for you,
   Or throw them out with tomorrow's trash."

   So, rebel-kings, use your heads;
   Upstart-judges, learn your lesson:
   Worship God in adoring embrace,
   Celebrate in trembling awe. Kiss Messiah!
   Your very lives are in danger, you know;
   His anger is about to explode,
   But if you make a run for God—you won't regret it!

What's the harm in believing in Xenu, or Krishna, or the volcano "god", or any other fruit-loop superstition, Richard? You won't regret it, you'll just waste your life believing in a lie, just like with your cult.

Well SDC you keep trotting out your favourite 'fruit-loop superstition' and wasting your life doing so. Maybe you should just start your own blog extolling the virtues of your two big buckets of nothing and their pending 'singularity'. I for one will be sure to read it regularly.

If believing the truth is important to you, Joe, then you SHOULD care; you have an IDENTICAL amount of evidence for your superstition that any other cult does for theirs, but if you don't mind wasting your only go-around on such nonsense, be my guest.

SDC we've been down that road way too often. Let me just say that you have an IDENTICAL amount of evidence for your superstition that any other cult does for theirs.

The difference is that my belief is based on evidence and logic. Logic tells me that every event must have a cause. What could possibly cause 'reality' as we know it? Evidence shows a highly engineered existence where everything is exactly right for life on planet earth including the physical forms (bodies)the life inhabits. What could cause and engineer such an existence? YAHWEH!

Your belief system is is based strictly on resentment, wishful thinking and is full of contradictions beginning with causeless causation. Want proof? Go back to your buckets of nothing. Singularity will surely be happening any eternity now.

Anyone who believes that the weight of evidence for all world religions is identical isn't very far along in thinking through these all-important issues that have eternal consequences.

No, Joe, your belief is based not on logic and reason, but on something called the "argument from ignorance", which is no more valid when applied to your superstition than it is when applied to any other superstition. You make a claim without any basis in fact whenn you say that "oh, there MUST be an engineer that designed us all, because we all work so well" (ignoring for the moment that this is BS off the bat) and then you drop your imaginary invisible magic man in the sky into that equation as some sort of an "answer". My belief system is based on logic and evidence, while yours is based on nothing more than wishful thinking. Even if you were able to show some sort of evidence that a "god" existed, you would still have to show that your particular sub-sect, of your particular sect, of your particular cult, of your particular superstition, had any relation at all to that invisible magic man, and given the contradictory fairy tales that your cult offers as "evidence", that is a long, long, LONG way off.
And, Richard, you clearly haven't been able to take off your jeebus glasses long enough to be able to see that the nonsense claims of your cult are in no way any more believable or special than the similar nonsense claims of other cults. In most cases, those other cults can at least prove that their "prophets" actually existed, unlike yours.

Ah yes logic. Its one of SDC's strengths you know. He stated quite emphatically that there is no God. His proof? Cars and trucks have wheels. Yes because both cars and trucks have wheels there can be no designer therefore there is no god. Any further discussion or exploration is pointless since SDC has proof positive that cars and trucks have wheels. That such logic defies any other sentient being is of no import. Cars and trucks have wheels so there is no god.

Thank you SDC now go evangelize all the deists with that irrefutable bit of knowledge. Run along now the adults are trying to carry on a conversation.

In case the car truck analogy goes right over SDC's head as is to be expected lets use another.

In the gut of a great beast live three little bacteria. Let's give them names, say Richard, Joe and SDC. The three little bacteria live happy lives. There is a constant stream of food upon which they can indulge themselves. It is warm so they never have to worry about getting cold. There is no light but that's OK because bacteria don't have any eyes. Sound doesn't matter either because they have no ears. Yes indeed theirs is a happy existence. Then one day the bacteria named SDC announces that he has proof that our host does not exist. Richard and Joe are more than a little skeptical after all the food flowing past them is evidence of a host, the fluids flowing past them is evidence of a host, the warmth is evidence of a host. In fact everything around them is evidence of a host. Nevertheless bacteria SDC rants and raves like an insane bacteria that there is no host. He has proof! His proof? All the food is very similar in composition. Since all the food is similar there can be no host.

Does anyone else see just how silly such spews from SDC truly are?

Joe, if you had half a clue as to what you were trying to talk about, it might actually be WORTH trying to convince you that science is the incontestably best explanation for evaluating the universe, but you are so deep into your superstition that you simply don't care about whether or not your myths are true. The EVIDENCE supports my view, while, what, exactly, supports yours? Nothing more than a collection of self-contradictory fairy tales, no more convincing than any other myth's collection of fairy tales. I can understand that you don't want to accept the fact that you're nearing the end of your life, and you therefore cling to these myths as sort of a security blanket, but I passed that point in my life along time ago, and I don't see any reason to lie to myself.

Joe, let me know when you get a better explanation than "ooh, it must be magic, so there must be a magician", OK?
