Engineers are better suited to understand climate than virtually any other group except geologists. This is because they can think in terms of systems without getting hung up on the mechanism.

The group which least understands climate is Climate Scientists taught at the schools which, because they were created for the purpose of Marxist Post-Normal Science, e.g. CRU, teach incorrect physics. The next group which has serious problems is Meteorology, which also teaches incorrect physics. 

The final group which has problems is Atmospheric Science, which also uses incorrect Sagan physics. 

We engineers have a head start on most!

Hi, there.  I’m a Global Warming sceptic.  By that I mean that I am sceptical of all but the first of the Ten Tenets of the Church of Global Warming, which are;

1.  The globe warmed over the course of the 20^th century.
2.  The globe is warming right now.
3.  The global warming is going to continue in the future.
4.  This warming is unusual, unnatural, and unprecedented.
5.  This warming is an overall bad thing.
6.  This warming is caused mainly by increased CO2 levels in the atmosphere.
7.  Human CO2 emissions are responsible for most of the warming.
8.  Humans are capable of reducing their global CO2 emissions.
9.  A significant amount of warming could be avoided if humans reduced their CO2 emissions.
10.  The amount of CO2 emissions reductions that would be achieved by bringing in a CO2 tax will reduce the amount of global warming by a large enough amount as to be worth the economic pain that would come with the application of a CO2 tax.

Apparently, to be a true Warmist you must confirm your belief in every one of the Ten Tenets.  Declare your scepticism in just one of these and you risk being banished from the Church as a heretic.

I concede the globe warmed approximately 1 degree Celsius over the course of the 20^th century, but I have my doubts about the other nine Tenets.  But if you are a devout believer in Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming (CAGW) and want to convert me to your religion then I’m going to tell you how you can do it.

U.K. to teach students ‘British values’ after ‘Trojan horse’ scandal reveals Islamists taking over schools.

 You don't hear as much about the glories of multiculturalism as you used to. It's been replaced by the need to buttress "[insert here] values".

Now, the UK feels compelled to school children in the "fundamentals" of Britishness. Which makes them fundamentalists now?

Conservatives knew multiculturalism was an ideological non-starter decades go. Progressives are playing catch up.

Of course, if/when the UK becomes majority Muslim, all bets are off. As Mark Steyn says, the future belongs to those who show up.

The Bergdahl Affair: The Money Quote?

Listen to this bit between Wolf Blitzer and White House spokesman Jay Carney:

CARNEY: We have a long history, as I know you're aware, of exchanging prisoners at the end of, especially, armed conflicts. We exchanged prisoners with the Germans. We exchanged prisoners with the North Koreans. 

"At the end of armed conflicts." I suspect Carney spilled the way the White House intended us to see this event. The President is shutting things down, and this prisoner exchange is part of the President's successful end of the conflict.

If so, it came at a high price. And it's not much of a success.

Britain's Dirty Energy Secret?

Thousands of dirty diesel generators are being secretly prepared all over Britain to provide emergency back-up to prevent the National Grid collapsing when wind power fails. 

Wind power lets cultural elites feel good about themselves; "dirty diesel" ensures they can send their self-congratulatory tweets to each other 24/7.

Thank God for carbon-based fuels.

The Misguided Obama Bergdahl Prisoner Exchange

The story so far:

* In 2009 a US soldier said he was ashamed to be an American (echoes of Michelle Obama?) and the US army was a joke, deserted. Six Americans trying to get him back died as a result. He was promoted during his captivity.

* In 2014, within a day or so of the VA scandal Chairman's resignation, President Obama urgently exchanged 5 top Guantanamo Bay terrorists for him. In doing so, he broke the law to get back a deserter who caused the death of six Americans and who possibly committed treason.

* There was a press conference with the President of the United States and the soldier's parents in attendance. The White House obviously viewed this as some kind of magnificent triumph and PR opportunity. Susan "it was the video" Rice characterized the soldier's service as exemplary.

Americans' reactions will range from joy to fury depending on what aspects of the story they hear and believe. I tend to the fury side, but am willing to listen and learn.

Perhaps the White House wanted to get this guy and punish him by handing him over to the VA?
